Procedures:
Airflow: Air-source heat pumps require free airflow to the indoor and outdoor heat-exchange coils. During service, the air filter inside the indoor air-handling unit (AHU) is removed and cleaned, and the outdoor cabinet is inspected for any airflow obstructions.
Cleaning: Coils are deep-cleaned to remove debris and contaminants, which helps prevent mold and mildew growth. Maintaining clean coils is essential for the overall efficiency of both heating and cooling cycles.
Refrigerant: A thorough inspection of refrigerant lines, coils, and flare connections is performed to identify any potential leakage.
Drainage: Clear drainage is vital to prevent water leaks and property damage. Drain lines are flushed and treated to clear existing blockages and inhibit future algae and mold growth.
Electrical Contacts: Wiring and contacts are inspected for wear and tear. Proper electrical integrity is necessary to prevent ice from forming on the outdoor coil during heating months and the indoor coil during cooling months.
Compression: High-performance ductless mini splits utilize digital inverter-driven compressors, electronic expansion valves (EEV), and sophisticated sensors. These components regulate and monitor the super-heating of high-efficiency refrigerant and require inspection by a trained technician.
